TFC Area Status

In addition to providing general information on area writing, this page is updated each time an area proposal is received for the existing continents, and each time any action is taking regarding the status of an area. NOTE: You may need to reload/refresh and/or clear out your cache to see the latest version of this page. If you have submitted a proposal, check the pending proposals section a day or so later to see if it has been received. Generally pending proposals will be responded to within a week of receipt. If you have not gotten an email back within a week, check back here to see if one was sent. If it shows that a reply was sent but you have not received it, email asking for it to be re-sent. If your area status has been updated to active, please check the active areas section with any questions you may have about its status. If you had been working on an area long ago but no longer see it in the list, it was most likely moved to abandoned. If you still want to work on it, let us know so we can re-activate it.

Proposals should be submitted to Tamar. (Please submit them as text IN an email, not as an attachment.)

The general procedure for completing an area will be:

Submit proposal to Tamar.
Proposal received and reviewed by Tokugawa & Tamar.
Proposal returned for revisions or clarifications and resubmitted OR proposal accepted.
Author reads TFC Style Guide and begins work on the area.
Author submits vnum map, 3 sample rooms, mobs, and objects.
Vnum map and samples are approved OR returned for editing.
Vnum range is assigned.
Author continues working on area, and then submits first draft.
First draft is reviewed, and any changes necessary are made by the author.
If necessary, second draft is submitted and reviewed, and any changes necessary are made by the author and/or Tamar.
Area is installed on test port for walk-through(s).
Final editing is completed by Tokugawa & Tamar.
Area is installed on TFC.

If your proposal has been accepted, please read the TFC Style Guide prior to starting work on your area, and follow its guidelines as you write your area. If your area has multiple levels, please do one map for each level and indicate how they connect. Information on creating a vnum map is here:

VNUM MAP FORMAT

The above map demonstrates the basic style a vnum map should use. A title
line at the top should give the name and vnum range(s) of the zone. Each
room in the zone should be marked with the last two digits of its vnum. For
areas that span multiple vnum blocks, three can be used with some
adjustments in spacing.

Connections to other zones should give the name of the zone and the vnum
it connects to, if known... otherwise should be denoted by Outside (xx)
Connections should be justified as shown above, on the right digit of the
room vnum.

For complex areas, you will need to vary from this format... do so in a
consistent and clear manner and be sure to include a legend of any other
conventions you use.

You can also use Excel or OpenOffice.org's spreadsheet program to do your vnum map if you'd rather. Please zip your map when attaching it to your email.

(These can either be re-writes of the existing areas, or completely new ideas that are the same level range and fit the locations of the existing areas.)

The new continent is in progress and will be installed as soon as enough of the areas on it are complete. Volunteers are needed to complete several of them that are already in-progress.

You may submit new area ideas of your own choosing as well.

Natilena Firbolg Settlement Received on 03-22-02, would be new zone. Responded on 03-30-02. On hold until Great Eastern Desert is finished. Changed status to active 02-20-03. Received vnum map 02-24-03. Assigned vnum range and approved map 05-11-03. Received sample rooms, mobs & objects 06-14-03, and responded 07-30-03. Waiting for initial draft from Natilena. Emailed 06-06-04 asking for status. She's still working on the area.

Pitt Vagrant's Ease Received on 12-04-03. Assigned vnum range and moved to active areas 12-24-03. Received vnum map 03-16-04 & responded 04-07-04. Waiting for next version of vnum map from Pitt. Putting on hold 06-20-06 until new continent is done.
Tamar/Bashful The Academy Initial drafts completed, will be replacement zone. On 04-24-02, Bashful agreed to complete the area. Answered questions & assigned vnum range on 04-26-02. Received .are file 04-29-02. Received vnum map from Bashful 05-15-02. Responded 08-29-02 with feedback. Received 2nd draft from Bashful 09-17-02, and responded 10-02-02. Heard from Bashful 07-12-03, said he is still working on area. Waiting for next draft from Bashful. Emailed 06-06-04 asking for status. No response from Bashful, open for reassignment.

Tamar/Bashful Mage's Tower Initial drafts completed, will be replacement zone. On 04-24-02, Bashful agreed to complete the area. Answered questions & assigned vnum range on 04-26-02. Received .are file 04-29-02. Received vnum map from Bashful 05-15-02. (Received updated .are file 06-06-02.) Responded 8-29-02 with feedback. Received .are draft on 04-25-02 and responded on 04-28-02. Received next revision from Plato 05-20-02. Completed review on 06-22-02, and installed on test mud. Area installed on TFC 07-02-02.

Bliss Wintermeet Valley Proposal accepted, will be new zone. Vnum range assigned on 03-30-02. Received vnum map and samples 04-23-02. Responded on vnum map and samples 04-26-02. Received initial draft 06-05-02. Responded on 06-22-02. Received 2nd draft from Bliss 06-24-02, responded 06-30-02. Received 3rd draft from Bliss 07-02-02. On test mud 07-16-02. Area installed on TFC 07-29-02.

Natilena Great Eastern Desert Received on 03-22-02, will be replacement zone. Proposal accepted and replied to on 03-30-02 with Nayr's specification as a guideline. Natilena replied on 03-31-02 agreeing to do the area. Status updated to active. Received vnum map & samples on 04-10-02. Requested revised vnum map on 04-21-02, and received revision on 04-22-02. Ok'd revised vnum map on 04-23-02. Changed vnum range on 04-26-02. Received initial draft 08-17-02 and responded 09-02-02. Received second draft 09-28-02. Preparing for test mud 12/12/02. Wish Shipwreck Received 02-11-04, and accepted proposal 02-25-04. Received vnum map 02-27-04, responded 03-08-04. Received sample rooms, mobs & objects 03-31-04, responded 04-07-04. Received initial draft 11-30-04. Preparing for test mud 12-06-04, tested 12-09-04. Received latest draft from Wish 12-27-04. Put on test mud sometime after that (forgot to note when). Several other versions put on test mud as well with fixes. Final revision eliminated need for new code. Installed 03-10-05.

Kaleyah The Blue Savannah Received on 09-24-03 and responded 09-30-03 asking for more information. Kaleyah responded 10-01-03 and resent 10-16-03. Responded 11-30-03 asking for location on original proposal. Received new info 12-01-03, and responded 12-08-03. Kaleyah responded 12-16-03. Moved status to active 12-24-03. Received vnum map 02-06-04, responded 02-11-04 with questions. Waiting for response. Emailed 06-06-04 asking for status, Kaleyah responded requesting it be put on hold until fall at the latest.
